Note: User management is an optional feature and your site may not be using this feature.

Site users can be assigned the following roles:
  • None - the user is not a member of the section and has no rights to pages restricted to that section
  • Read - the user has access to pages restricted to the sections for which the user is a member
  • Submit - the user has the same permissions as "Read", but can also submit articles to the article database.  This type of user cannot place articles in the website
  • Edit - the user has the same permissions as "Submit" but can also create menu items, assign pages, create pages, and assign articles to pages.
  • Admin - the user has the same permissions as "Edit" but can also create and edit users and their permissions.
  • Site Admin - The user has the same permissions as "Admin" but these permissions are applied to every section on the site.

By default, there is one main user group (or section).  This group contains all users that have an account on the site.  Additional "Sections" can be added.  Users from the main user group can also be assigned to the additional sections if their permissions for that section are other than "none".

Datasets are definitions of which users and which fields are displayed.  Many common fields are already in the system.  Fields can be added to a dataset when editing that dataset.  Several fields are designated as "core" fields and cannot be changed.  Several fields have names that are needed by other functions of the system that your site may not be using.  New fields can be added.  It is highly suggested that all new fields be added through the main section, and permissions given to the other sections to use those fields.
